I’m experiencing an issue with the Plex iOS app and I’m not sure whether this is an app issue or a server configuration issue.
My setup:
Synology DS1522+
Plex Media Server running on my NAS at home
Plex Pass Lifetime
Plex Media Server is accessible remotely
Remote Access is enabled
Port forwarding is configured
No CGNAT
The problem:
Inside my home network, the Plex app on my iPhone works perfectly and all my libraries are available.
Outside my home network, however, the Plex app shows no libraries at all, regardless of whether I’m using:
cellular (5G/LTE), or
a different Wi-Fi network.
Interestingly:
PlexAmp works perfectly both inside and outside my home network.
The Plex Media Server is reachable remotely.
A colleague with an Android phone experienced the same problem with the current Plex app. After installing an older version of the Plex app, everything worked correctly.
This makes me wonder if the issue could be related to a recent version of the Plex mobile app rather than my server configuration.
Has anyone experienced something similar or found a solution?
I’m having a similar problem on Android. Both Plex 2026.12.0 and Plexamp 4.12.4 have quit working remotely in the last several days. Confirmed remote access via browser to my URL or app.plex.tv work just fine.
I found on another post there was an issue with certificates on Mac-hosted Plex servers. Following the instructions to remove the certificate and allow it to regenerate worked for me.
