Plex app doesn't start if Xbox One doesn't immediately sign me in

Hello!

The app is excellent, but I am running into one main issue. If I turn my Xbox on and it doesn't immediatel recognize me and sign me in, then the Plex app doesn't work. I can open the Plex app and choose a profile to sign into the Xbox, but then the Plex app just sits there at that same screen and never opens to the video dashboard. The steps to repro (and this works consistently for me):

1. Open the Plex app and watch a show.

2. Go back to the Xbox dashboard, but dont open any other app/content

3. Turn the Xbox off

4. Turn the Xbox on, but sit somewhere that doesn't allow it to sign you in automatically

5. Open the Plex app and try to sign into a profile.

This also happens if you try to sign into the Xbox profile before opening the Plex app,

I've also noticed that if I open another app before shutting down, then turn the Xbox on and sign-in before opening the app that I get a different experience. The Plex app will open in this instance, but will sit with the spinning loading screen and never fully open. If I uninstall the app, then re-install it will open like normal, until I shut down again anyway.

The app is great, but having to uninstall every time I want to use it is getting cumbersome :)

I've just tried hitting quit on the application to force it to actually close and that seems to have helped. When it starts up now the app will actually launch properly after signing in. Seems to be working consistently now.

Might be misunderstanding you, but you can press the Menu button on your controller(the one with the lines) when you have an app highlighted on the main Xbox screen and force quit the application. That should allow you to fix the issue without uninstalling the app each time.

The sign-in issue is one you can fix by having your Xbox sign you in automatically upon start, instead of using the Kinect method. You have to be signed in to use the Plex app so there’s no getting around that.

Thanks for the detailed steps - that helps a lot. We'll look into this. Hope it's working for you now after quitting the app - sorry for the hassle!

Thanks guys; yes it is working fine so far now after forcing the app to exit.

I too am having this sign in issue. I however cannot set the Xbox One to auto sign in as there are others in the house who also use the Xbox one. Any other recommendations on how to fix this?

I had exactly this problem this morning.

I had the same problem too this morning. Just saw the donut wait. I looked at the menu button to see if I could close an app (I figured it didn't wake up correctly) but didn't see a force/close option. I will look into the auto-signon.

If you go back to the dashboard then click the menu button, you should see a quit option on the menu that pops up

Found it and that worked. Now I just need to find the recently added section
