Plex App for Fire Stick 2 constantly crashes when navigating

Player Version#: Unsure, I factory reset my Fire Stick and reinstalled it on 07/09/2020 and the issue persists.

I wanted to share some family photos and videos on the TV, but was burdened by the app constantly crashing when navigating between photos in different folders.

I am using the Fire Stick 2. I tried factory resetting the Fire Stick, setting it up from scratch and redownloading the Plex app again but it continued to crash.

I logged in with the administrative/main user for the Plex server.

I can provide logs if you instruct me on how to capture them as the issue is very reproducible :slight_smile:

  1. Go into the settings and turn on network logging (it’s on the advanced row). You’ll see a ghosted line of text at the bottom with the URL you need to go to to access the logs.

  2. Then go navigate around / do whatever you need to to cause the crashing.

  3. One that’s done, navigate to the URL from before on a PC on the same local network as the Fire Stick, and copy the logs out into a text file.

  4. Turn off logging and upload the text file here.

Please find the logs attached :slight_smile: The crash occurs at approximately 11:49:40 when scrolling around folders in my home videos library.

I think the app version is 8.5.2.20133 (dfd59213)

Amazing! It’s fixed already! Just got an update to 8.6.0.20351 and the problem no longer occurs.

Although that’s really just a coincidence. There’s a delay in Amazon publishing new Plex app versions to their store after Plex releases them. The 8.6 app was released five days ago, before you started this thread.

I see, I suspected that might have been the case, as realistically software updates are never that quick :wink:
