Plex App LG WebOS keeps buffering every second after fast-forward and resume

Hi

it looks like sending logs did not help, since Plex is trying to find the buffering issue by illumination history of changes done up to date from version 1.16 :frowning:

why not to reproduce the issue and debug it on real time when it reproduced in the LAB with full debug information and source code available ?

in my case the problem is also existing randomly on WebOS 4.5 - opened a different thread with logs about it without any response.

Thanks

I’m a bit disapointed in plex looking for the solution on this one. There have been quite the updates an it’s still being confirmed that the issue hasn’t been fixed and we all have to stay at 1.16.x because the dev’s seem to be too lazy.
Sorry for saying it like that, but this is just how I feel

can anyone confirm the issue on multiple platforms or is it just Windows? Hoping to migrate to Unraid soon, but need a stable release for reasons…

I have Plex on a FreeNAS system and it’s happening for me on my LG.

I run my server on a Mac Mini and the client app on LG TV and am having the same issues.

Helle @anon18523487,

I’m a lifetime membership and I do experience the issue on both my WebOS LG tv’s. It is constanly buffering (every 5 seconds) when selecting subtitles. I’m running plex on a 6 core CPU with 32gb Ram… My cpu never goes up more then 20%…
Please fix the issue…
Regards,
Francois

That’s a different issue. Please start a new thread and provide logs from your server. You’ll want to enable logging from the app and reproduce the issue.

Hi

uploading new logs on WebOS 4.1 first played movie the MKV file with internal subtitles works without buffering issues client “reporting timeline state playing, progress” during transcodeing process however the second played movie the external SRT has buffering issues, you can look at the LOG the client reports "reporting timeline state playing, progress " only after transcoding is done.

Thanks

Just wanted to chime in: same issue here, having run Plex on an LG Oled from 2016. I’ve reverted to the old Plex server and no issues now (which should only be a temporary fix). Would be great if the Plex team could fix this (long overdue) issue.

Whether Jellyfin has a workable LG app or Plex gives a decent update, I personally choose the one that comes first

Hi @bruno_volckaert_ugent_be can you please share which exact version you reverted to. Thanks!

Downgraded to server version 1.16.0.1226 which works on my TV

Thanks - I reverted as well and it works!

I made my own post but through google and more specifically searching on plex discord I came up on this thread.
Long story short, I have bit older LG tv running webos 2.2.0. Everything was working great until I turned on subtitles, then if they start automatically at beginning it would work fine until I forwarded a video, then I’d get stuck on 3 dots and get an error in some time. Also if I turn on the subtitles during the video it would happen as well. I’ve been playing these same files off USB stick and subtitles work so not sure what happened here.
Anyhow as a workaround like some mentioned, I downgraded from lastest pms to version 1.16 something from this thread and now it works without issues!
I don’t know what exactly I’m missing going back 3 versions but oh well, hope it gets fixed. I uploaded some logs into my thread if anyone’s interested I just wanted to add my +1 to this thread.

Any news, impressive so silent

I think most people have given up on them fixing it and are using version 1.16.0.1226 with security compromised. It appears like Plex is never going to fix the issue as they haven’t even isolated what is causing the issue yet since October last year. Either their dev bug team is weak or they have deemed this not a priority (imho).

Never say never

That is why I said “It appears like” and not a definite never. I know I should be more positive in my thinking. Thanks for the positivity check (and no I am not being sarcastic haha)

Yeah I gave up on them. This bug and the way it’s been handled has really tarnished Plex’s reputation in my eyes. The bug itself is bad enough, but the lack of communication is the real kicker.

since I have the same issue and the downgrade did not helped me.
I am sending Plex logs to help solve the long lasting issue of buffering.

since the issue in my case is on different version of Plex LG clients including version 4.1,
I opened a different tread,

I also did that, but then IMO realised that the app for iPhone, as I use to plan recordings does not work with that version anymore… anyone can confirm it is not only for me?
