Solution for those experiencing casting issues via Chromecast, check the frequency of the wifi your Chromecast has defaulted to.
This does not solve codec issues but rather casting issues only “something went wrong”.
Your phone and your Chromecast need to be on the same wi-fi frequency for Plex to work effectively.
Disabling band steering in the wi-fi menu should solve your problems.
