Server Version#: 1.23.5.4862 (latest version) / Secure connections are disabled, when the TV did work up until yesterday, secure connections were enabled on the server.
Player Version#: 2.012 (TV claims I have latest version, no updates to install)
TV: Samsung UN50JU7500 (Tizen), no idea what version the firmware is but navigating through the TV’s menu there is no newer firmware version to update to.
Reference: Have had this TV since 2015, maybe once a year the TV will not load Plex, as in the plex logo with the dots will appear, then revert back to the TV’s main menu. The Plex Player TV App will not take me to the 4-character link screen much less even get to my Plex server.
What has been tried already:
- Turning off the TV overnight.
- Tried updating the Plex Server (already at latest version).
- Tried uninstallaing and reinstalling Plex Player App (four different times).
- Tried removing the TV from list of authorized players in an attempt to force the TV’s Plex App to re-authenticate (never gets to link screen).
- Tried resetting TV’s Smart Hub.
- Tested TV’s Smart Hub Connection (completed successful)
- Tried changing WiFi bands (went from 5mhz to 2.4mhz)
- Reset TV entirely. (THIS ACTUALLY WORKED)
I do not know what is going on but this is roughly a once or twice saga of troubleshooting steps until my Plex Player starts getting along with the Plex Server
