Today tried to use Plex on samsung TV. Nothing but black screen. Exited & tried again, and a quick flash as if it’s loading and a black screen.
Restarted PC
Rebooted router
Reset Smart Hub
Reintalled Plex
Updated PC web version
Plex used to need me to press back on remote before it would load, has done for months. Nothing works to get it running on the TV.
Plex still runs in PC browser as usual.
IIRC the smart hub version will no longer display libraries unless you configure your server to disable secure connections.
Are you sure this is Samsung SmartHub platform though? The player app version you’ve mentioned in your post (5.10.0) sounds more like a 1.5 year-old version of the Plex app on the Samsung Tizen platform?!
It states on the app page for download that it was last updated 22/04/2021
It worked yesterday. The app will not load so there’s no way to check anything with it. It only installs or can be deleted now. The TV model is UE40KU6400 and I think was a 2016 model?
I remember having to disable secure connections to get it working when it was first installed.
Your app being last updated in April 2021 is roughly in line with the release of version 5.10 for the Samsung Tizen platform.
The latest version is 5.31 and was only released yesterday. So there might be something blocking your TV from updating the installed Plex app. From what I can see, the newer version should be working on the same platform versions as the one you have currently installed on your TV.
Right, the TV has not updated for a long while & the version I had is the only available download. Strange that it worked yesterday? Is that due to the Web server not being compatible to the old version on the TV? I didn’t update the pc version until after the TV app stopped working.
Maybe I’ll get the update in the next few days, maybe not. Thanks for giving me some insight.

Reinstalled 5.10.0 again, it loaded up this time. I need to log in when I get chance.
I did a USB install on my Samsung a while back when there was only a Beta version available, it can’t have been hard to do if i managed it!
