Plex app not showing updates on Samsung Q60T

Player Version#: Samsung 5.46.1

I have a Samsung Q60T that has v5.46.1 of Plex installed but says it is up-to-date. I can see from this forum that this version is nearly 2 years old and there have been multiple versions released since then. Is there something special I need to do to install newer updates?

So it turns out that the Samsung “Apps” app shows it as 5.64.1 but when I look in the Plex About screen it shows as 5.85. So I do have the latest version and the Samsung app is telling lies :grinning:

The Plex app in the Samsung app store is a small bootloader, not the full app. It is rarely updated.

When you launch the app, it checks in with plex.tv. On initial launch, it downloads the current version of the full app. On subsequent launches, it downloads an update if one is available.
