Samsung 2019 QE65Q80 App version

Server Version: Latest Synology:
Player Version:5.64.1 (nearly a year old)

Hi all, just wondering, I noticed from the release thread Plex for Samsung (2016+ 4K/UHD televisions) - #129 by sLumpy that I should be on:

Version : 5.83.1
Platforms : Samsung 2016 to 2023 Televisions (Tizen 2.4, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0)

The app on the tizen store doesn’t appear to have a newer version available to be updated to, is this right? I’ve tried a full reinstall etc just to make sure, but still nothing available?

The installation from the Tizen store is not the full version of the app. It is a “bootloader” version.

When you launch the app, it checks with hosts at plex.tv, then downloads the full version of the app.

The version displayed in the Tizen store is the version of the bootloader.

The version of the full app is displayed in the Plex app settings. It is also displayed in your list of Authorized Devices.

That’s just added to my confusion

Plex settings says “Client Version 5.64.1 - Platform Version 5”

Authorised devices says the new version. So that seems fine, guess plex settings is just showing the loader version

However, I do wonder if you found the issue here Samsung TV app Black Screen - #12 by auto98uk (investigating which is what made me notice the versions) - authorised devices was also showing the old version as being used AFTER the last entry of the new version on the same devices - makes me wonder if something on the plex end was serving the wrong version of the app.

This reads like the Plex Tizen app is just showing the wrong info on-screen for some reason.

It is reporting the correct version to plex.tv, since Authorized Devices has the correct information.
