Hi there can anyone advise if on the next update of the plex app for android tv or Chromecast can this please bring in the option to choose between direct play or stream as this option is currently not available within the app
It’s done automatically by the app. You cannot override the choice. Is something not working for you?
no it works certain films of mine keep pausing and buffering yet if i turn off the Chromecast and use the plex app on my lg tv i have no buffering problems. at all is the Chromecast underpowered? I have home streaming ticked on the server-side and set to max on the Chromecast. yet using another example if i use kodi they play flawlesley on the new chromcase. maybe introduce an option to force the plex to play at orginal quality. or is there a specific set up to allow decent play back with the new chromcast.

Also maybe there is a simpler answer to this, when i use WEBOS and the plex app on my tv it direct streams perfectly no issues with stuttering or buffering etch, then I relaised my tv is connected directly to my router via ethernet, so i may have to invest in a ethernet adapter for the chromcast.

A chromecast does have limited capabilities, especially the older models It is not the same as using a dedicated Plex app.
