Plex app on chromecast every unstable recently

I have been having a array of problems on my Chromecast app. I have a local plex media server as well as being connected to my friends remote plex media server and all problems listed below happen regardless of which server I’m using.

  1. When I click to remove items from my Home->Continue Watching->Remove from Continue Watching. The plex app immediately closes and I land back on the Chromecast home.
  2. When fast forwarding or rewinding it will often not work leaving me with just a spinning circle and eventually brings me back in my library or home area. Every so often it closes the whole app and lands me back on Chromecast home.
  3. Sometimes when the navigation collapses either the selected icon or all the rest of the icons half disappear. When this happens some times the navigation will not reopen or the whole app closes and I land back on the Chrome.

I have uninstalled the plex app and reinstalled, I have also clear it’s data multiple time.

Do you know if the content is transcoding from your server or direct playing?

Looks like Direct Play and Direct Stream are checked in Plex Web->Debug. Under Settings->Transcoder->Transcoder quality->Automatic.

When you are actually playing something bring up the on screen controller and move the the right to select the menu that is the three dots. In that menu select Playback Info and it will show if the video currently playing is transcoding , direct play, etc and other info

Checked two TV shows and two movies of on my local and they all said direct play. Then I tried the same on my friends remote server and one show and one movie said direct play the others said transcode.

Do all of them have the issue of the spinner after a FF/RW and going back to the library regardless of direct play or transcode?

Ok so let me state I have never paid attention to if when it crashed or timed out if the TV show/Movie I was watching was direct play or transcoded. I found a TV show on my local server that was transcoded so I ran a few tests. I was able to get the transcoded one to crash the whole app and the timeout on multiple occasions. I tried two different TV show playing direct play and out of multiple tries only got it to crash one time.

I have the same issue #3 on 1 of 3 Chromecast with Google TV devices. Menu will not expand or show libraries.

I know it’s pretty annoying though it looks like at least the one of my problems have been fixed. Like I said the Plex about on Chromecast is pretty unstable and their review score shows it lol.
