Plex app on iPad "Uh Oh Something's Not Right" unable to access anything

I’ve got a few iPads and only one of them started having this issue just tonight (at least that’s when we noticed it).
iPad 6th Gen running iOS 17.7.6

I reinstalled the first time and the app worked for a little with my profile, but when switching to another profile (my kids), I now get the uh oh screen again. Reinstalling another 4 times leads to the same uh oh error, and now I’m unable to even switch profiles..

I’m updating to iOS 17.7.8 to see if that helps..

Definitely don’t factory reset your device just for this error.
We’ll have a few changes to help debug in a coming beta.

I know it’s frustrating and I’m getting more info on this so we can have a fix.

Just knowing it’s recognised and has some attention, goes most of the way to removing any frustration, thank you.

I have this issue as well on both my iPhone and iPad. Apple TV is fine. Interestingly, it is just my main profile that has the issue. If I sign in on my son or guest profile, it works fine.

That’s very interesting.

A previous poster suggested they had success reinstalling Plex and restarting the iPad which I 100% believed would not work but it did work. “Have you tried power cycling your device sir?”

Sadly (and as noted in the first post diag steps) rebooting iPad doesn’t resolve, but thanks for taking the time to make a suggestion.

Have two users with iPads, one works and one doesn’t. The iPad Pro 12.9-inch 6th generation works, the iPad 10th generation doesn’t. Both are on iPadOS 18.5, on the same local network as the Plex server. User with non-functioning iPad said the issues started “A couple days ago” but until recently, they could still play media.

There are multiple different bugs and errors, all happening solely on the non-functioning iPad:
Switching between pages is slow, and UI elements take a while to load.
Artwork for shows does not load
One of either two errors appear when trying to play media:
“Error opening input” and “Http request failed, timeout of 30000ms exceeded”
And of course, the “Uh Oh, Somethings not right” page sometimes appears when opening the app

Steps to troubleshoot that have not worked:
Restarting iPad
Signing out and signing back in to plex
Deleting and re-installing app

Update:
Both users have the latest version of the Plex App (2025.18.0), Plex Server is the latest version (1.41.8.9834)
Between re-installations of the app, the “Uh Oh, Something’s Not Right” error either triggers 100% of the time (requiring a new install) or the app will open but nothing will play, no artwork will load, and UI elements take an extremely long time to load.

A new error has been added to the mix of errors that appear when trying to play media:
“Error Occurred
Failed to fetch play queue response.
Retry - Close”

Update #2:

I have been able to consistently get the app to work perfectly, across multiple app re-installs, by connecting the iPad to an external VPN. I suspect that the issue lies in the local network connection the iPad app is making to the Plex server. Other than connecting the iPad to a VPN, I’m not sure of a way to disable local network playing, since disabling “Enable local network discovery (GDM)” in the Plex server settings, and disallowing the Plex iPad app’s “Local Network Access” in the app permissions does not solve the issue (the traffic in the Plex Dash app still shows as “Local”, and I have “Treat WAN IP As LAN Bandwidth” disabled).

Not sure if this helps anyone, but the app works currently on my daughter’s iPad when I use my main profile, and I get the error when I switch to my daughter’s plex home profile.

Was running into the same problem. I have plex pass, a main profile with a pin and a managed account with no pin. Adding a pin to the managed account fixed the issue for me.

It’s been a week since the last update was provided directly from Plex staff. Is there a new update that can be provided and/or is there a timeline for a potential fix?

Re-install and/or reboot didn’t fix my problem. I’m presented with the error/message even before I can select a profile.

Thanks.

Just adding to the conversation. I haven’t been able to use plex on my iPhone and Xiaomi redmi since the updates came in.

At first it was a show keeping on resuming to specific section all the time. In that the video would play for a minute or so then display an error and go back to a specific section. Always the same section.

More recently it has been just the uh oh thing when I go to the episodes page or play something.

Keep holding the poster until popup comes and click play. Unfortunately it is very broken when you search an actor or movie and the filter does not play.

I have the same issue

I was able to fix it by closing the server/application on PC then opening on app then opening the server again on PC

On an iPad 6th Gen. Same issue.
This worked for me. Hopefully work for you as well.

Delete the app, Removed all the records that match with the iPad from Authorized Devices from settings. Kill the plex server, Install the app and log in.(Was able to login successfully without the “Uh oh”). Then start the server.

Very odd indeed.

What worked for me was to:

  1. Stop Plex server
  2. On iPad, Delete iOS app
  3. Reinstall iOS app and perform initial login / setup
  4. Select alternate profile (if using same profile the error would come up even while server was offline)
  5. If successful, restart Plex server
  6. On a computer to go Plex Home, remove PIN from the user getting the error.
  7. On iPad, Kill Plex app on iOS and relaunch - try offending user without PIN, if successful,
  8. On iPad, Kill Plex app on iOS
  9. On a computer to go Plex Home, ADD PIN back to the user

Fixed 2 Gen 5 iPads rockin iOS v16

Any update on this from the Plex team??
