i’m a heavy Plex user and own both FireTV and Apple TV. Both don’t offer all codecs i want to use and sound also doesn’t deliver DTS. That’s why i bought a Xiaomi Mi Box. The device itself is almost perfect, just lacking a Ethernet port which can be added via USB. First thing i installed was Plex and instantly was disappointed. Every video i try stops after a few seconds and only audio runs further. First thought it’s the Wifi, but also with less bitrate it doesnt change. Videos via Kodi run perfect.
Interesting: Plex App via Kodi Plugin also runs perfect! Seems that the Plex Android TV app is broken.

There are many threads about this already. The same app runs perfectly on ShieldTv and Nexus Player, so sounds more like a MiBox firmware issue.
We’re still waiting for an explanation or answer from someone at Plex… @elan@antoniolg@kinoCharlino @“MovieFan.Plex”
I’m pretty sure it’s the firmware on the Mi Box. I’ve heard they’re working with AMLogic but still nothing since they’re released the box. It doesn’t make me very hopeful for the future of the Mi Box.
Bought a Mi Box today for my mom. Same problems as others. I have a movie with AC3 5.1 whose video is being transcoded, but not the audio. Plays fine for a few seconds, then there’s a skip in the video and the video now plays at 2x speed with the audio staying at the original speed.
I wish there’d be some official acknowledgement of this. It was first reported in these forums in October 2016.
I just received my Mi Box and run in the same problems as mentioned above.
I installed Kodi and running the Plex add-on, no problems there so this must be something that is not working well in the Android Plex app.

If you run the Plex for Kodi Add-on on the Fire TV then Plex uses the Kodi player rather than the native player & thus plays all the CODECs that Kodi can & importantly allows audio passthru so that it delivers DTS audio.

Yeah I bought the Mibox last night and just ran into this issue. The Plex Kodi add on works great as a workaround.
