Plex App on Sony TV hanging when attempting to play films

When attempting to play movies through the Sony Android Plex App the playback either hangs when attempting to play on high Mbps settings (which I know can cause this behaviour), or simply fails to connect to the host Plex server when I downgrade the quality. Getting Plex to automatically convert the playback quality doesn’t work either. All films play find when run directly on the device hosting the Media Server, or through the Plex app on my iPad.
This behaviour only started after the last app upgrade.

Also, I should have added that my TV is hard-wired into my router, as is the device on which the Plex Media Server is running. So I have discounted wifi issues.

You could try Restarting all devices. Server Modem and TV from the power supply not a remote.

If using windows as a server, Turn of Accelerated trans coding in server settings.

Tried that, but now by TV app isn’t even finding the media server, even though the app on my iPad is working just fine.

Not sure what’s going on, but this certainly seems to be an App-based issue rather than anything specific to the Plex Media Server.

Uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the TV which has resolved the connectivity issues, but not the playback ones. One thing I have worked out is that it only seems to affect playback on my local network. Internet-based playback seems to be fine.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated as right now I can’t play anything from my own server in my own local network :frowning:.
