In the app, go-to preferences, system, there is a setting, use secure connections, I have that one disabled, does it help?
Also in your screenshot, where the preferred setting is, scroll down, there is a setting to enter IP addresses , I have all my Samsungs added there, it says, that no login is required… Maybe that helps?
Keep me posted, interested too in this
Is disabled, still not able to add the server
Try adding the IP of your tv, does that help?
This one work! thanks a million! At least now I can use the app locally again!!
So apparently we will need to buy a new TV to have Plex working again??
Aha, good to know… That’s why it was working for me :-)…
We are stuck with offline method, but my PMS is offline , doesn’t Mather for me…
No, we don’t need a new device, there is also a proxy method, with orca 2.014 edition, but you need something a server to run it on…
For now I use 2.012 in offline mode
I’ve my Plex Media Server install in a NAS. and my parent use it as well in a online method. yesterday they start to have problems to see movies, maybe is because of this issue?
I saw the prowl method, but be honest I’ve no clue how to set what they said in the guide…
Yeah, my parents have Tizen models, seems to work there if setup as insecure …
The proxy is just a service, you can run it on your Nas next to Plex…
In the orca app, you need to specify the proxy setup, so the proxy is a service between your tv and cloud…
That will still work… But I never tried it, since my H model was still working… I’ll stay for now with offline method untill I really need it
Thanks a million for the help!
Np!! I was in same boat
BTW do you know witch proxy4plex runs on a QNAP NAS?
Probably, I see all available archittectures here:
thanks, I saw them, but I’ve no idea of witch one I need to install. there are 40!
What’s the architecture of your Nas? Probably 32 or 64 bit , skip the arm versions then, they are for raspberry
Probably this one : proxy4plex-0.2.0-0-g206e9dc-linux-amd64
it should be a 64 bit. Is a QNAP TVS-471
Thanks. I’ll have a look this days
thanks, I saw them, but I’ve no idea of witch one I need to install. there are 40!
that is on purpose to support almost all OS and CPU-Types
since this NAS has an intel x64 cpu you can use the versions ending with amd64
. I don’t know which OS runs on the box so most probably a build with linux
in it, maybe freebsd
.
on the other hand you can also create a very small VM (it seems this device can do that) running some sort of linux and run the proxy4plex-0.2.0-0-g206e9dc-linux-amd64
there.
Thank you @plex_tyrael_metaname_de and @Fabio.Pergola and @dane22 for the help.
Well I just spent a couple of hours to change to developer mode, as my Samsung TV purchased in 2016, but being 2015 model doesn’t supports usb side loading.
I logged in as user “develop”, password “000000” in the app menu, then I pressed 12345 on the remote, which allowed me to specify a server IP, as per my proxy4plex is configured, and working.
Now the TV asked me to reboot, which I did.
But the rest of the process is failing, as I don’t have any developper option from “tools” menu, and basically no way to select any app from a remote server…
Any idea ?
Best to make an issue on the GitHub page of the proxy, the owner is active and can help
