Plex app (orca 2.012) showing user offline

@Mmz06 i don’t think this is related to my proxy at all.

  • What is your TVs Model-Number?
  • i think something went wrong on your end while gaining developer mode for sideloading.

i cannot imagine why you needed to enter “12345” to get to the IP-Config screen.

typically you have to follow the instructions exactly, if one command fails, don’t try to find workarounds, as the rest will probably fail also.

so please post more details, so we can help.

Model number is UE50JU6800KXZF (2015 gen purchased in 2016)
It’s one of the first Tizen models, but apparently too old to access the official plex client…
I’ve been happy with Orca’s until today, even using 4K HDR content.
Anyway, i tried to login as user “develop”, password “000000”, which works.
When i connect the USB stick I can browse the content of the decompressed Plex app folder, through “My Content” app but no way to launch anything.
And the “Tools” key from the remote opens the tools bar on the top of the screen but nothing related to launch any apps, or whatever…

Will do !

as i also posted ob github, the sideloading will only work for E, F and H Series.

i do not know enough about sideloading for J Series. i wonder why the Orca App even worked for you on Tizen? how did you install it in the first place?

If there is a way to do it, i could adjust the sideloading to support J Series aswell

Well, it was available and still is available from the official Samsung store.
The only issue is it’s not updated since 2 or 3 years.
Plex team decided to develop their own official app, choosing to enable it for samsung TVs from 2016 and newer, when usb side loading was possible only up to 2014 TVs.
So basically the happy purchasers of 2015 Samsung TVs are condemned not to use any Plex app anymore, as far as I understand it…
Surprisingly it’s still possible to use Netflix, Amazon Prime video and YouTube apps….

Ok this is odd, but yet again I don’t have a J-Series to test this.

Maybe you can try using tizen studio to sideload the app via network, just as a developer for J would have to do?

Or, maybe the way for the old beta does work for you:

Fingers crossed

Of course maybe the browser interface is good to use on your TV too, but well, if the app can be used, there surely is a way to get it onto the TV

Huh, side loading the orca app on a Tizen? Cool, I have also an old Tizen , will have a look later what version it is… Keep us posted

maybe the orca sideloading won’t work, but sideloading the official app might.

Hi there,
I gave try to 3.70.0 beta version of the client from here, as the 3.103 one was not available on Google drive anymore:

Still, it’s failing to side load it via usb as well…
I will try the Tizen Studio option now, just as last resort…

So last Tien Studio 4.5 installed, including JDK and TV extensions.
I can connect to my TV in dev mode

Now How to import an app to the TV ?
I tried to import the last Plex app folder to it, but then I don’t know what to do…

Any help ?

@Mmz06 did you follow this video? How to install unofficial apps on Samsung Tizen TV with Tizen Studio - YouTube

At least you have some way of communicating with the TV. Now you need a way to upload the correct files.

maybe someone from plex has an older wgt file that they can give you? that would pretty much fix it for you i think.

i don’t know if the orca-app can be bundled in a way so it can be uploaded via tizen-studio.

Hello,

I am also concerned by this issue. I have a UJU7000

From this page : TV model groups

I found my TV in this list:
15TV_STANDARD1 UJU5900,UJU5910,UJU5920,UJU8000, UJU7800, UJU7500, UJU7000, UJS8500, UJS8000,UJU6900, UJU6410, UJU6400, UJU6300, UJS6900,UJU6390, UJU6000,UJU6100, US9A, UJU6800, UJU6740, UJU6700, UJU6600, UJU6510, UJU6500, UJS8600, UJS6700,UJU7090

and it say I should use :

TV SDK for Tizen 1.0 beta or higher

So I have abandonned latest Tizen Studio. Also JDK 8 is very important to use.

This is only in order to use the right libraries, because with Tizen Studio I’ve been able to install an application (by testing on TV from Studio).

I would also like to push the Plex version supporting proxy to my TV.

Well, I didn’t knew this video.
Thanks for enlightening me :grinning:
Now I just tried to check, but I couldn’t find any .wgt version of any Plex app…

@dane22 you have good/important contacts - can you ask someone from the plex dev’s if they can supply an older .wgt for those poor souls with a J-Series TV?

That would be awesome

Problem is that Orca didn’t update Github with src. for the latest version he made (Proxy version)

And he was the only dev on it, so nobody else has a .wgt :frowning:

sorry for not being clear about that - can someone from plex supply an older tizen version? so not the unofficial orca version, but rather the official plex-client.

The problem for J-users is, that their TV can run both, the orca-client and (theoretically) the tizen-client.

Only the old 2.012 orca-client was in the store, so they would have to sideload the newer official build. but the store does not supply this one.

another way would be to repackage the orca-client for sideloading, but alas, i don’t have a J-Series to test that way. So my best bet is, that an old tizen version in wgt format would run fine on the J-Series

With the Orca client, you could create a wgt file your self in the TZ STudio

No idea if there’s an old official version avail, and also unsure if Plex wanna release that again, but I’ll ask

Same here…Got an E and H series TV

AFAIR, the current official plex app was tested during development on J series devices. It was largely functional, but unbearably slow because of the weak hardware. You don’t want this app on the old hardware you have.
