Server Version#: in Web Client—General v 3.83.1
Player Version#:
Hi All,
This is my first post so please forgive my ignorance about Plex.
I was on the Plex.tv support page " Why can’t the Plex app find or connect to my Plex Media Server?" and came to the instruction “Sign out of your Plex account in both the app and Plex Media Server”. Problem is I don’t understand the distinction between them. Plex opens up in a browser window on my mac and is automatically signed in. What other sign in am I missing?
Any response is appreciated. Thanks in advance! - Todd
To sign out of Plex Media Server, go to Settings -> General. At the top you’ll see “Server signed in as” with your e-mail address and a Sign Out button.
To sign out of Plex Web, click on your avatar/account in upper right corner and choose “Sign Out” from the drop down list.
When you see “Plex app” we are referring to a player such as “Plex for iOS app”. The Plex Web app many folks think of as the server interface but it is not really. The web app is a player but is the only app that can also manage the server (beside command line/terminal). It can be used even if you don’t have a server at all. Some folks only use podcasts for example which don’t require a server
BigWheel, even when Plex was running fine I never saw anything like this image of yours.
Thanks for explaining the difference to me.
Still trying to figure out why Plex can’t find the server…
