Plex App Setup to Connect ot USB Drive

I’m wanting to install the Plex app on my 2021 QN65QN800AF Samsung TV, and watch movies on a 5TB USB drive connected to the TV. Many of the movies have already been scrapped using Media Companion, but the actors are stored in both the movie folder and in a cashe folder on my laptop.

If I add movies to the USB drive with the Plex App running on my Samsung TV (connected to the Internet) gather the data?

I though it would be better if I let my laptop do gather the data rather than let the TV do it, believing that i wouldn’t need to wait till it’s finished before I watch a movie?

Plex is working slightly differently. It’s not about having your media directly connected to the TV. Instead you have a different device acting as the Plex Media Server – this could be a Nvidia Shield, a NAS or some other PC. The server will organize your files and make them available to the Plex apps – those can then stream the media over your local network (or remotely).
