Plex app stopped working on Samsung TV

I have a Samsung UA50JU6400W. Was watching a movie using the Plex app on the TV and in the middle of the movie it stopped working. I exited the app and then tried to get back in and it just goes to the load screen for the app and times out and goes back to the last TV channel that was previously on. I tried uninstall/reinstall app, restarted Plex Media Server, restarted NAS device, rebooted router, nothing is working.

I can access to PMS through my phone app or through the Fire TV Plex app also attached to the TV.

Anyone else having issues with Plex app using Samsung TVs?

Yes, I have a different problem and in trying to fix it, deleted and tried reinstalling the Plex app and it did exactly the same thing as you are describing.

I ended up resetting the TV. Plex now works but it didn’t fix my main problem

That’s the one thing I didnt end up doing…resetting the whole TV. Damn! That worked but yea, have no idea what happened. It’s still the same Plex app version, same TV firewire/OS, etc. So weird.

i know, i don’t know why i’m having problems when everything worked one day and the next it doesn’t. very frustrating

I had the same issue with smart hub but it would not let me DL the Plex app (or even firmware update). I reset smart hub and still nothing. Did a factory reset on the TV and nothing. Downloaded and installed the latest firmware and still nothing. Other apps work ok. I ended up buying a Firestick 4k to resolve the Samsung garbage platform but plex is still spotty. The TV is basically a monitor now.
