Plex app stuck on “Network Unavailable” on LG OLED CX (WebOS 04.60.65)

Server Version#: 4.146.0
Player Version#: 5.4.0

Hi,

I’m having a persistent issue with the Plex app on my LG OLED CX TV.
When I open the app, it immediately shows the following error:

"Network Unavailable – Make sure your device is connected to your network and has a working internet connection"

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

The TV is connected to the internet (YouTube and other apps work fine)

Time settings are set to automatic

I rebooted both the TV and router (power off for 60+ seconds)

Deleted and reinstalled the Plex app multiple times

Changed DNS to 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS)

Disabled IPv6 on the TV — no change

Confirmed that my Plex Media Server is up and running (accessible from other devices, including web app and my parents' TV)

Tested Plex through the Web Browser on the TV — and it works fine

Tried to use a different Plex account, but the app crashes before any login screen shows up

TV details:

Model: LG OLED CX (e.g., OLED55CX6LA)

WebOS version: 04.60.65 (latest available)

The app used to work fine until recently. Is this a known issue with the latest firmware or app version?

Any advice or workaround would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Is that right? That version is from 2020. I’m not surprised if that doesn’t work.

Maybe I am wrong about it but I talked about the version of the application on WebOs :

The version number displayed in the LG Content Store is not the right number.

The correct version number is available in the Plex app settings or via Authorized Devices. You should have v5.89.1.

The app in the Content Store is not the full version. It is a simple bootloader app. When you launch the Plex LG app, the bootloader checks if an update is available and if on is, then it, downloads the full, current version from hosts at plex.tv.

The bootloader rarely needs updating. That is why the version listed in the Content Store is incorrect.

Oh ok I understand, thank for your answer !
So I check on Authorized Devices, because on the Plex app I am stuck on the error message, and I am in version 5.91.0

That’s not a valid version. The latest is 5.89.1. Trying to load a version that doesn’t exist would cause what you are seeing.

Great thanks, it’s a good lead !
But I did nothing about that, so how it is possible ?! And even if I deleted and reinstalled Plex, it came back with this corrupt version…
I also unplugged the TV more than 60 sec after deleted the app because I read somewhere it erases the cache.
And now do you have an idea about how can I downgrade to the valid version ?

I fired up the app on my LG. It is also 5.91.0. Looks like Plex pushed out a couple of releases and did not update the release notes.

And I guess for you it works ?

No other ideas ? :worried:

Ok, just spun up my LG tv and it loads the app fine. Version 5.91.0 with the 5.4.0 loader.

Check the internet settings of the tv. Maybe something changed. I have my tv wired and ipv6 off. I also have wifi not connected. If you have both connections, that could cause issues too.

I have tv wired too but I had ipv6 and wifi enabled (wifi is enabled but not connected).
So I disabled ipv6 and wifi, deleted the Plex app, turned off the tv, unplugged it for 60sec and reinstalled it to be sure but still the same message when starting the app…

My parents have the same TV you mentioned and the Plex app is stuck on the “Network Unavailable” message. Tried uninstalling the app, doing a re-install and rebooting the router but the TV halts on the same message after startup. Plex works fine on my LG C2 though, so it could be something exclusive to this particular LG series.

At least it’s reassuring to see that it’s not just a problem for my TV.
I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
Thanks all for help, I’ll keep the topic open if someone comes up with a solution, or I’ll close it if an update fixes the problem.

Hi
I have the same issue.
Anyone know how to solve it ?

I have the app version 5.4.0 installed on the TV and under authorized devices on server side, i have the version 5.92.0.

However every time I try to start the app, I end with No Network available.
All other internet app (youtube, twitch…) work well.

I tried to change my DNS for 8.8.8.8 in the Settings but same issue.

Did you solve it on your side ?

Thanks!

Unfortunately no, I gave up and switched to Jellyfin which does the same thing

Unlucky :s
I use Plex for years now. First time I encounter an issue.
How was the transfer to Jellyfin ?

Yes same…
For a local use it is the exact same thing so very easy to install and use, but if you want to use the remote access it is more complicate
