I am not interested in hoop jumping work arounds. I have things to do other than messing around between devices and platforms and rooms in the house every time I want to change the channel. I am getting tired of waiting for Plex to address their problems. They need to spend more time fixing the problems they already have with their product instead of spending all their time upgrading it for monetizing purposes and breaking it even more.
A recent major upgrade was to try to enter the pay per view market on the Internet by offering free with comercials and paid channel viewing. This to is broken. You would think that they would get a fix out there to correct a problem that renders this upgrade unusable to a major part of their potential viewers but it still remains as they continue to move forward into monetization. This problem I am speaking of is the inability to get through the commercials they throw at us without re-buffering, and re-buffering, and re-bufferingā¦ Sometimes it takes as long as 10 minutes to get through one commercial break. So, all of their effort in providing us with other channel content is worthless because we canāt watch it. You would think that if the entertainment content can stream flawlessly, so should the commercials.
I am now searching for a reasonable replacement for Plex sense they arenāt interested in fixing the problems they already have as they move forward to create more problems. This has been going on for too long.
Yes I have spent hours trying different system settings, reading possible forum fixes and nothing seems to work. It will work for a maybe an hour or so and then shuts down or freezes up. I have several firesticks and none of them work well with plex. I understand much of how Plex operates depends on your server PC and home network abilityās. I thought it might be a problem with my equipment so I went and purchased a brand new server PC with top of the line processor, memory, solid state drives, new mesh router system completely upgraded my system. And guess what I still have the same problems as many have listed above. I have other applications and video apps that run with no problems on the same firesticks.
I guess the question I have for Plex administrators is are you working on this or have you moved on and are no longer interested in fixing the problems with firestick applications. They have been very quite about this lately if they are working to fix these problems. A honest statement about the state of the application from them would go long way. It seems lately they are putting a lot of resources on the gaming option.
Does anyone know of a similar system for over the air broadcasts and recording? I am ready to switch over and cancel my plex pass. Please let me know if you have had success with other systems.
