This app has gone the same route as Android. No matter how much the major issues are pointed out, every update addresses things no one has heard of. Where is the fix for the full screen issue? Where is the fix for the laggy UI? Where is the fix for the buggy download feature? Where is the fix for the buggy watch status? Where is the fix for the buggy and laggy player? But instead we get a fix for blah, blah, blah.
Will they ever fix touch support or what?!!!
Bump. Why are these problems not being addressed? The problem with 100% GPU has existed for over 9 months now. The initial release didnāt have the problem, the first update introduced it and it has been ignored ever since. Why?
Wellā¦another updateā¦UI still lags. You canāt keep the damn thing in full screen mode. I could go on and on, but we still get updates for crap no one cares about.
Would love this app to be usable on the SP6. 8th gen Intel Core i7 and 16GB RAM doesnāt cut it???
Iām running a surface book 2 to the max with graphic base and it runs like hell.
Hello, I had the same problem, bad performance and only with the application not with the version I had before. I disabled the hardware decoding and itās much better. If it can helps some peopleā¦
Thinkpad Yoga X370 i7 7th gen, 16GB Ram, intel graphics
bump.
Nothing has changed since the latest version. You can still not use the application.
Plex for windows: Version 1.15.1.1358-43550df5
Overlay UI will lag a lot with no response to input
Would like to see a good app for playing on windows that doesnāt involve a browser
Version 1.16.0.1364-da192ff7
Still same problem. Gets laggy and unresponsive, especially while playing.
Try Plex Media Player. Plex for windows is very poor.
The latest version available for download (1.16.0.1364-da192ff7) works brilliantly on my desktop with a dedicated nvidia gpu and no integrated graphics. However, on my laptop, it is unusable (dell xps 15 7590, i9 9980HK, intel uhd 630, nvidia gtx1650).
Now the problem with most modern laptops is that (even if you change the settings in the nvidia control panel) it will still prefer the integrated gpu. Still, the laptop can easily play 50Gb 4k films in vlc as well as in the windows store version of netflix (only way to get 4k netflix in windows btw).
For anyone else that is having issues, the best workaround so far is using the PlexMediaPlayer app (2.58.0.1076-38e019da at the time of writing).
Once installed:
- switch to TV mode (top right corner)
- click Profile -> Settings
- (using keyboard arrows) Main -> scroll down -> tick OpenGL native
- restart app
- use either desktop mode or tv mode, both work well
For anyone in the plex team: Iām happy to help with debugging this issue, provide logs, try out builds, etc.
I also have XPS, and unfortunately the Plex For Windows application is not stable. You can say that nothing can be seen on it, because I have 10 FPS + no sound.
Okay I found a solution. I would like to apologize to the Plex team!
There is Dell Power Manager on Dell XPS. You have to set it to the highest performance and then Plex For Windows works great for me:
Unfortunately, after this operation, Dell reached high temperatures and the fan was still on. The way to do this was to reduce the tension:
