Plex Arcade Blank Screen

Hi there

Hope you are all well

I’ve subscribed and followed the instructions on installing plex arcade

I’ve tried to install n64 emulator

It “works” until I press play and then I get a blank screen, The game then goes to “currently playing”.

This is quite upsetting.

As I think its a good idea poorly executed and rolled out. As most of the original plex server back at the beginning

I have high hopes but am looking forward to not having a blank screen

Best

same issue for me too :frowning: Guess I’ll have to cancel the subscription if they dont fix it in the next 7 days.

I get a black screen I can hear the game playing sound but no picture. Hoping there is a fix soon

Yeah got butterflies when I heard the sound and then sank when I couldn’t get an image out of the thing tried again today same issue

Ditto…launch the game, a background image starts, then it goes to black…not even sounds. What’s going on here? Same experience on Android, Web, Windows App, roku, samsung tv…everywhere.

if you’re getting sound but no video, that usually indicates an issue with video card not supporting what’s needed.

Im also having the same issue. SNES games act like they are playing, but no sound, no video, just a black screen. Heres the game transcoder log. Plex Game Transcoder.log (5.5 KB)

Elan,

Is there any way to tell if the problem is the video card? I’m attempting to fire up the new game structure but getting the same blank screen and no sound. The rig that hosts my Plex server is pretty old so it wouldn’t surprise me, but I would like to prove it before I start changing things. There is nothing obvious in the Plex Games Transcoder or Plex Transcoder Statistics logs. Both seem to indicate that the session fired up and was transcoding properly.

One other small potential complication is that this platform is windows 10N so I always have issues with missing dlls that I need to work around when MS does a major windows update.

What client are you using? Some of the older FireTV/Android devices don’t show video but it’s a client bug (Parsec SDK) which we’re working on getting an update for. Try Chrome e.g. if you haven’t already.

The only place I had tried so far was on my Intel Mac, using chrome on the local network. I just tried it remotely using chrome on a win10 workstation and I’m getting an error “Network configuration prevents direct connection to gaming session”. I also tried locally using Plex on my iPhone and same black screen, no error. I tried it from chrome locally on the Plex VM and didn’t get an error, but same black screen. The Plex game transcoder logs for any session I fire up don’t show any errors and they get longer the more I leave the blank screen up on a client.

I did find another forum post around the 6200 network error and I’ve tried adjusting Windows Defender but it didn’t change anything. Digging into the Parsec docs I don’t think my hardware will render, in addition my plex server is a VM and it looks like there are issues unless you have an actual video output. I’m guessing this isn’t going to work without a hardware upgrade.

using Nivida shield pro just for the client part removed the server app from it. still goes to black when you try to play n64 I got a few games to work for snes but it’s so dam slow and I got 2gbps internet and it’s local and a 700 dollar router so… any word on when the fix gonna happen cuz we about to be paying per month for a broken system. if I could I would fix it for you I have 10 years of emu experience. I helped everyone with the unzipping roms to get them to load so… let me have a crack at it… I know you go through a 3rd party but you do not need to do that… keep everything in house. I can write up some code using a shareware all in one emu.

I have the same problem. My Plex server runs on a Mac. All games go blank after exactly 3 minutes when playing from a browser (Brave, Chrome) in all emulators.

After some digging, it turns out it is a Parsec bug. Parsec users get around it by (1) switching tabs every 3 minutes - selecting another tab then going back to the gaming tab in Chrome refreshes the screen and it becomes visible again (2) using a dedicated Parsec client (which everyone in the Parsec forums recommends doing). Of course, a dedicated Parsec client is not an option for Plex.

As it stands now, Plex Arcade games are unplayable - switching tabs every 3 minutes is just unworkable for actual gaming.

Any plans to fix this? Is there a known workaround?

We absolutely want this fixed and have raised it with Parsec. They’re aware of it, they say they will fix it, without giving a specific timeframe.
