Plex Arcade?

We’re working on updating our support articles and our main feature page. Plex Arcade does not currently work on Linux. Gaming works through our partnership with Parsec (why you need an account with them) and they do not support Linux. We hope this will change if we can show enough interest.

I get it… I use Parsec for network gaming over my LAN, but please make this a little more prominently displayed before we waste our trial on something we can’t use.

So… how do I actually get it to work? I signed up for the trial, followed the steps (including creating and linking a Parsec account), restarted the server just to be sure, but I still can’t find the Games options anywhere.

You have to create a new library for it.

I know I’m probably nitpicking on this, but “No Tokens Required” is just the worst motto ever, because it implies this is free, and yet it requires you to pay a monthly fee, even if you have Plex Pass.

Ah, thanks! I was expecting to see it under the online media sources (News, Webshows, etc.)

Edit: still don’t see the Atari stuff, even though I checked the option when creating a library, but I’ll dig a little deeper.

How do I link my Parsec account? I was going through the setup wizard and clicked the link to create a Parsec account, but now I can’t find a mechanism to go back and link my Parsec account.

When I try to launch a game, it says I need to link my Parsec account, but how do I do that now?

Anyone know?

Log in to plex.tv and go to your account. It’s under ‘Other Services’.

Thank you!

I signed up for the free trial and linked Parsec but am unable to find the Games tab anywhere?

I linked my Parsec account, but now when I try to play a game, I get:

Network configuration prevents direct connection to game session.

Also, all I see are the free games that come with it. I added a library for my Genesis roms, but that platform does not show up.

Nevermind, there was a firewall popup on the desktop of my plex server. I can play games now. It still does not see my Genesis library, though.

Update: I went to add a library for games but get the error message that “this library type is unsupported by this server”. Is that because I run plex on my Synology server?

Does anyone know the default key bindings for Arcade games? I tried Asteroids, but could only figure out how to thrust or fire. No idea what keys to use to steer the ship.

I think it only works right now on Windows or MAC

More support information is up now. Including how to use your own games.

Parsec only works on Windows, Mac afaik. We will try to work with them but can’t make any promises about ETAs

I am currently receiving errors:

The game transcoder exited unexpectedly.
Error code: 8005 (Game Server)

Anyone know how to fix this? I have my account linked with parsec and I have the library all set up.

Ugh, looks like Plex expects each rom to be in it’s own folder.

That is going to be a pain in the butt. I will have to redo my folder so as to not mess up Launchbox too…this is highly annoying.
