PLEX auto detect library changes NOT working

Seems recently plex is no longer picking up changes to library when I add new files.

give us some meat to the bone…
what platform, what server version?
rough order of magnitude as for the number of folders you’ve got… alternatively: what kind of libraries do you manage with Plex – just movies/tv shows or also albums or photos with lots of folders?

Window Web Version 3.29.7

Server Version 1.9.6.4429

Lots of home video folders/ libraries about 70
1 huge picture folder derived from multiple folders on local drive
1 huge music folder maybe 100 albums
1 huge tv show folder 60 shows
1 movie folder
the changes however were made to 2 of the home video folders.

I also run the media player on window 8.1

Plex Library Settings:
Note: This function relies on the computer’s operating system providing the “something changed” trigger. Some operating systems don’t provide this trigger and content mounted via a network will also typically not work. If your Library doesn’t automatically update, you may have to set a periodical refresh or do it manually.

I’m not an expert with Windows… not sure if Windows will send such an event/trigger to Plex to allow the auto-update.

It usually works fine. Within a few minutes new content is normally picked up on my server.

Check if you have an “empty” folder and delete it.

I’ve got the same problem, seems like it started an update or two ago. No empty folders, not sure why that would actually matter. Only adding content to existing folders.

Mac, El Capitan 10.11.6

Plex Version 1.15.0.659

I have two servers that were identical but one didn’t automatically scan a library when I added new episodes to a TV series. The only difference was that one had “Include music libraries in automatic updates” checked and the one that did the automatic scan on changes didn’t. Maybe this is the problem since there is a warning that “Linux systems limit the maximum number of watched directories; this may cause problems with large music libraries.” I know you are running Mac OS X but it could be down to the number of directories

I just note cedthe same thing happening to me running the latest public version

I downloaded and installed the latest publicrelease and now it is working properly.

Something in the beta is not quite right!

Thanks,

Bryan

I had the same problem. Beta download not doing its thing, at least not on MacOS.

Downloaded public and seems to have resolved

I have the same issue on mac.

Thanks,

Bryan P.

is a known issue being looked into. [Bug] - MacOS 10.14.3 - PMS 1.15.0.659 - "Run a partial scan when changes are detected" Not working

I am experiencing the same issue. My TV Shows library does not auto-detect new media but my Movies library does. It did affect my movies at first, but un-checking the setting to auto-detect and re-checking it fixed the problem for the Movies library. Unfortunately it did not fix my TV Shows library.

Hi I experienced the same issue with Version 1.16.4.1469 on Freenas 11.2 U4.
When i add a new file the server not detect change yet.

Same issue on widows, Mac OS, and freenas. Apparently not it s a problem with OS.
