On the web player or iOS player the subtitles correctly do no show. However, for the exact same media, on the AppleTV player (version 7.1.1), subtitles are shown. The AppleTV default system settings are for subtitles to be turned off.
What is causing this behavior and how can I globally or by default prevent subtitles from showing on the AppleTV app? Each individual media file can have the subtitles disabled while playing, but this isn’t workable for thousands of TV episodes. The language of the exiles shows as “en” rather than “eng” or the fully spelled out English, if that matters, but in VLC the language does report as English.
