Plex cache size on Google TV devices (seems to be using all the storage space)

Short version: Plex seems to be using all the storage space, and apps aren’t auto-updating (due to no available free space).

Long version: Out of curiosity, how much space does Plex take up on your device? Google TV’s only have around 4.4Gb of storage, and I have four of them around the house. Each of them only has a few apps installed (Plex/HDHomeRun/Pluto/Netflix/Prime).

Two of them don’t get used much, so they are fine. The other two are used for hours every day, and those two had only a couple hundred Mb storage space left. On one of them, Plex was using up nearly a 1Gb of total space.

The reason I realised - I went into the Google Play Store to manually update the apps, and found a fair few updates stuck in the list - they weren’t updating due to no space left (apparently 200Mb space left isn’t enough to update apps). I had to delete the Plex cache before I could update the apps. I looked around my apps list, and nothing was taking up much space apart from Plex.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a workaround so Plex doesn’t use up all the space with its cache?

I am seeing this issue. Currently Plex is using 123 MB of cache storage. I’ve had to clear the Plex cache to get app updates to happen.

Yeah the app storage (without the cache) seems to be about 130Mb in size.

One of my Google TV’s was 130Mb App storage + 800Mb Cache, and the other was 130Mb App storage + 500Mb cache. Neither of those two Google TV’s would auto-update.

My other two Google TV’s are 130Mb App + around 120Mb cache, and those ones were still auto-updating fine

It seems to me when the device wouldn’t update apps Plex had over 1 GB of cache. Like you my second Chromecast with Google TV is used once a week or less and was updating fine.

BTW, there is an update for the Chromecast with Google TV:
