Plex cannot access files on Synology NAS? "Please check the permissions for this file."?

My setup is NVidia Shield (hosts the server) → Synology NAS (Hosts the media files).

Suddenly, all plex media files are no longer accessible? I get the following message with a web plex viewer “Playback error. Please check the permissions for this file.”

I cant play the files via nvidia shield or via a phone app as well. (so I think it’s some kind of file host access error)…

However, I also cannot access the library sett8ings on the server … it states " Server settings are unavailable." ??? This is via the plex web viewer… (so perhaps its also an NVidia server error)?

after finding the new file permissions* I set the plex media file permissions on the Synology to read and write…

*Plex Media Server security changes for Synology users

However, I still get an error on accessing files and accessing the settings via web … =(

Trying to acess web settings I get " Server settings are unavailable."

any suggestions on what could be wrong?

Shield: v9

If you’re using USB storage, V9 shield experience dropped the connection to it.

You need to go back in and enable it again.

:man_shrugging: as to why but they did

Hi Chuck,

After the Shield update to 9.0.1 (hotfix) I lost connection to my plex server….

The server is running off a usb stick on the shield …

I tried reading up various posts but not sure whether there is a solution?

What should I do?

@l2oBiN

Go back into the shield settings and re-enable the USB
Then restart the shield

ok
I upgraded the shield to 9.0.1 + Hotfix
I tried disconnecting teh USB storage and rebooting (it automounts)
I then tried uninstalling plex and rebooting…
I now also see two plex servers associated with the shield when viewing plex settings through the web…

can I somehow backup the server config… then reinstall the server?

Hi. Any advice is much appreciated. This is quite an annoying issue…
