Plex cannot find Synology Plex Media Server

Server Version#: DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 2
Player Version#:3.79.0

Followed Q7a and Q3 from FAQ page. Still can’t get Plex to find the Plex Media Server which is installed on my Synology DS218+

I even went a step further and completely reformatted the harddisk in my Synology DS218+ and did a fresh install of the DSM after which I did a manual install of the Plex app (PlexMediaServer-1.14.0.5470-9d51fdfaa-x86_64.spk)

All to no avail.

May I ask why your Synology is plugged directly into the public routable internet address?

It should have a LAN address.

RFC-1918 addresses are:

10.x.x.x,
172.16.x.x - 172.31.x.x,
192.168.x.x,

You’re right. That was the problem. My Mac was going through my router by my NAS was connected to the ethernet before the router. I now have the NAS also connected to the router and everything works fine. Thank you very much for all your help and your patience. Much appreciated!
