Plex cannot pull embedded album art from .wav

I have zero idea why, but if the file is .wav, plex will not pull anything from it.

I’m not aware of a conclusive list of file types from which Plex will read embedded metadata. The documentation is a bit vague when it comes to that. It basically gives a list of files that “can have” embedded metadata…
From past experiences I know Plex won’t pull embedded metadata from matroska based formats (mkv, mka)

Local Media Assets

Most agents will contain the Local Media Assets source. This source looks for local files like poster images, subtitles, etc. as well as embedded metadata inside certain media files. For example:

  • Metadata like plot, release year, etc. embedded in a file (typically MP4, M4V, MP3, and more)

Plex cannot read any meta tags from wav. Use flac instead.

I have to ask, is there any real reason for this? Considering Jellyfin is able to, and that’s made from the cobbled together ashes of another program, coded by users who do it for free.
