Server Version#: 1.31.3.6868-28fc46b27
Player Version#: 1.68.2.3746-7601b337
I run Plex on several devices: a Roku smart TV, an iPhone, and two MacBook Air laptops. My server is a Mac Mini with an attached external hard drive. Normally it functions with zero issues.
Last night, it dropped the connection to the server (see attachment) and says my server is “unreachable”.
The server itself seems to be fine – all the sharing functions are enabled, the drive and the hard drive can be found and shared on my laptops, and I’ve been able to add content to the hard drive remotely from the laptop.
I’ve also tried the following fixes:
- logging out and logging in again
- making sure I’m running the latest version of the Plex app and media server
-checking all available preferences in the PLEX app for obvious issues - making sure my devices are listed on the device page
- making sure I’m not running a VPN or using antivirus apps that would interfere with reaching the server
Nothing came up via any of this. But I still can’t access my server via any means, including the smart TV.
I tried to troubleshoot the server settings, but I can’t access the Plex Server app on the server (the Mac Mini) – see attached screenshot. I also tried accessing the special server settings via the Terminal app, and while I can see the com.plexapp.plexmediaserver.plist file in the Library, I can’t alter it in Terminal as it gives me an error message (see attached). Again, the server seems to be working perfectly fine, Plex just can’t seem to communicate with it.
I am a lifetime pass owner and I regularly screen new content every day through Plex. Please let me know if you can help in any way.
