Plex cant open browser when i click open plex in the icon window nothing happens
can anyone help.
The standard response:
That should open the default browser (the one you have set as the default in your OS).
The standard questions include, but are not limited to:
What OS and Platform?
What Browser?
Have you tried setting another default browser (Chrome’s been working fine here)?
That’s about all I have to offer at this point.
Type the below in the Windows search box or Windows run box(WinKey + R)
https://www.plex.tv/
… or in the URL window of a browser…
That opens the hosted Webapp at Plex.tv
Double Clicking, or selecting Open Plex in the System Tray icon will attempt to open the local PlexWeb app.
This could be as simple as having not assigned a default browser - or as complicated as something overly complicated, tiresome, irritating and time consuming…

No. That won’t work. I am trying to find out if the OP system doesn’t have a default browser assign yet.
Right - you’d need to click ‘Launch’ after you get there.
This will:
https://app.plex.tv/desktop
I guess what I was getting at is for some reason the OP system may not have IE/Chrome/FF associated right. If so, do shell commands will fail and directly double clicking internet short-cuts file(*.url) will bring up something similar to this.

I’m not sure how plex loads the web-browser.
It could simply calling HTTP:\WWW.PLEX.TV(a shell command) or be calling the browser exe first "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" http://www.plex.tv
The latter of the two would work while the former would fail without any warnings unless specifically programed to check for such an event
Well, the LAST thing I would suggest is making Explorer the default browser -what with all the users having trouble with MS Browsers.
Chrome seems to be well behaved (for the most part) and I would suggest making it the default browser for most Plexy type people, unless an immediate and catastrophic condition occurs when doing so.
Next thing we need, you and I, is a response from the patient… lol
Thanks
i got it
All sorted thanks for your help
