I have the latest version of Plex Server on the latest iMac. It’s run almost perfect with my movie files on a couple of USB drives both on this iMac and my previous one. Decided to get a Synology DS1817 to store my movie and TV files for Plex. I can see and use the files on the NAS through finder on the iMac and VLC can play the files. However, while Plex can see the folders on the NAS, it can not see any of the files in the folders. I feel like I’ve tried everything but obviously I haven’t since I can not get it to work. I’m about ready to scrap the NAS but I’d prefer to get it working.
Are you mounting the drive on the Mac? if you are running macOS 10.15 or above you might need to get Plex Media Server permission in System Privacy Settings.
