Hi all, I am haing trouble with Plex not recognizing some films from series after the file has been renamed with filebot. The situation is: The files have been renamed to the proper format as recomended by Plex. The Plex server keeps “pointing” to the old filename and which is not there, so the film appears as “unavailable”. I cant get Plex to “forget” the previous file and include the new file in its database. I tried cleaning bundles, empty trash, scan (at least 50 times) analyse, refresh all metadata, and still no luck. Plex keeps pointing to the old and non existant file name. I have also tried moving the entire content of the directory (for example: /volume1/Series/Game Of Thrones/) to a new directory (eg. GOT) tried to clean bundles, empty trash, scan, and then copy the files back to its original directory in the hopes Plex will treat it as a new. But this didnt work. either. Any help will be highly appreciated.
Hi and thanks for your prompt response, " Empty trash automatically after every scan" was already enabled, I tried running the scans for each library independently and nothing. on my series folder I have about 70 series from which only 48 are recognized and displayed by Plex. I have verified the file structure and filenames as per Plex recomendations and corrected accordingly using filebot. I have also ensured that the names of the directories where right with no strange characters and so on. And nothing. On the other hand I can see some series there but when tring to play, it appears as “unavailable”. Now I know exactly why, the reason is that Plex is looking for video files that dont exist (since the names were changed, so it keeps pointing to un existing files) but I have no clue on how to tell Plex the new filenames (Ideally I would like to be able to delete this Plex entry and allow Plex to find and include the new files. but I dont know how to do this or if it will work at all (see problem 1 above) Any suggestions please? Hi and thanks for your reply and tips. I intended to perform the recomended actions, but I cant seem to be able to find the “optimize database” and the “clean bundles” anymore. I have seen (and use those before) but they are not there when I press the “…” next to the library, there is only: unpin, reorder, scan library files, share…, manage library (in this last one there is: edit, refresh all metadata, empty trash, analyse and delete. Has this commands move elsewere? Thanks again and best regards.
Thanks, I manage to find another way, I was using a “preview” of a new plex interface or something like that, I turned this off, and my libraries appeared again grouped under “LIBRARIES”. When clicking on the “…” to its right the menu with the options appeared. Thanks I am trying the dance now.
Hi, I have tried the recomended steps, I even tried to perform 2x each from step 2 to 5, and did all again 2 more times, I can still see the cover art of the series I am trying to fix despite that I moved the whole directory and all its seasons to another directory where Plex has no access. I tried deleting it manually and it tells me “There was a problem deleting this item” and the cover art remains. If I go inside I can see all the seasons including the movie files (but of course they appear as unavailable) Should I proceed with step 6 and 7 of the plex dance despite this? Just in case, I made sure that the plex user have full read and write permissions to every single shared folder of my nas and that the plex shared folder provides full read and write permission to every user and group.
