I run a server off a seedbox. Due to that reason, I can’t follow the proscribed folder structure, else the seeding will stop. The issue I am having is that Plex wrongly categorized movies that have a year in the folder name not separated by a dot as TV series. For example, it will properly categorize a movie from a folder titled “Ad.Astra.2019.1080p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.x264-CMRG” as a movie. But it will then go on and categorize a movie from a folder titled for example “Avengers-Infinity War 2018 brrip hevc-d3g” as a TV show. I have no control over how the folders are named as those are created by an uploaders. And renaming the folders manually also doesn’t seem to work, at least AFTER Plex already added the files to the library. And I also can’t delete the files and add them again either.
My question is: is there any way to manually re-categorize erroneous entries? Or must I live with this mess forever? Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Instead of its default operation mode of renaming files, use it to create symlinks to your original files in a completely separate folder.
Separate folders for movies and tv shows.
Point Plex only to these separate folders which contain the symlinks.
Points Plex’s movie library only to the folder with the movie symlinks.
Point Plex’s tv show library only to the folder with the tv show symlinks.
That’s probably the worst recommendation I have seen… use the operating system to fix bad software design… gee… what a complete fail.
Mixed content TV and Movies in common folders are normal, however, the Plex developers keep making up rules. Plex Movie Agent indexes TV shows when it should not.
Seriously this is 2020. not 2002…
The rule for TV agents is they are not permitted to index movies or show them in the library.
The rule for Movie agents is that they should not be permitted to index TV shows. (however the do)
The issues above would not be a problem if they followed their own rules.
