Stopped using plex live tv for a few months looking around, doesn’t seem like there is much going on to correct it.
I can confirm this issue as well, but not sure it was needed… Before finding this thread I started this one…
But this has more information in it…
to me, even if you can’t fix it right away, after the 3 minutes and the session is killed, the client should create a new session and start the channel again as live TV, at least the experience won’t be a crash

Yep, the issue is still there…and related to that is also the impossibility to rewind a live TV show on my AppleTV…you press rewind(or back arrow) to a point in time, when you press play it goes back to live point… :-/

Any way to bump it up on the priority list a bit considering the fact that it’s been an ongoing issue for almost a year at this point? The ability to pause TV for a few minutes is a pretty integral part of a DVR.

Nope still there…
I noticed that when I pause the live tv on the web client, Plex continues to create files in the transcode folder past the 3 min mark and I can resume watching without any problems. Witch dosen’t occur while pausing on my Shield tv 2017…
Maybe it’s a setting in the Shield that is wrong or doesn’t send the right signal to the server that causes Plex to kill the the session after 3 minutes.
Are you watching it on a Shield tv too?
The same is happening with my Shield TV Pro (2019)
Same happens with AppleTV 4k…
Repling to note I have to same issue. Once I resume live TV from pause it fails after a minute or two.

Still happening on my system with all different devices.
Linux server and 3 differnt Android Client’s.
This is frustrating because one of the big reason’s to have a DVR.

A fix was recently made so it should be coming out in a future update.
Same here. This puts me in the dog house with Plex nearly every time my wife is watching The Bachelor or Bachelorette or some other important show live and then we pause it during a commercial to take the dog for a walk. When we get back (about 10-15 minutes), we can resume, but we can’t time shift through the commercials to get back to the show. If she tries, it often crashes and we lose our spot and she wants me to throw Plex out the window. Seriously, please fix this!
Latest version of Plex server, running on Linux. Apple TV 4 and 4Ks. It’s been a problem since I first got into Plex with Live TV as a replacement for WMC at the start of 2020.

Do you have an update on this comment from October? It’s December 2020 and this issue still occurs.
The fix came out back in November with 1.20.4.3517 but that was regarding resuming from a pause. I was not aware of an issue being able to skip after resuming.
Can you start a new post and provide logs after reproducing the problem?

I’d like to test this on my setup.
My Server is Windows 10, i7, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD (main disk where Plex is installed) and clients are nViidia Shield Pro 2019.
How long can i pause the live tv for ? Where is Live TV buffer kept ?
(In my WMC days i used to set up Live TV buffer to 3 hours - with Plex i had to record everything i care about watching)
I have plex server 1.21.1.3830 on windows 10. If I pause a recorded program in plex client on Apple 4k 7.11 for a long time I’m not able to resume without killing client and restarting. Is this a different issue as it’s not live tv but recorded tv?
