Plex Client: Can't specify IP address?

Can I specify the IP address of my server using Plex Client? This works fine with the web app, obviously, just visit the IP address. But if you have various security settings on the web app doesn’t work (you need to use the client).

My Plex client seems insistent to search the local network for a Plex Media Server when my server is actually not located on the local network, but rather another IP.

Is there a way to force the client to use a certain IP address?

I do not currently have access to the server web app.

For Plex Media Player on Windows:

  1. Enter TV Layout (upper right of PMP window, box with “TV”).
  2. Click on your account icon, select Settings
  3. Go to “Manual Servers,” enter IP address of your server(s).
