I'm sure one will pop up in due time. If you're asking anyone from the Plex team for access to a pkg file to install Plex on a offline or CFW PS3, I don't think that will happen.
I know that I will have to figure a way to get it on to my "offline" PS3 once it is released in the US PSN store.
So I have an obscenely absurd question that I don't know if it is possible.
Plex client can autodetect a local server (yes)
There is also the local web client (yes)
Modern DVD and BluRay discs have web content on them (yes)
Why isn't there an image that can be burned onto a DVD and be run as web content on the playstation or other consoles??
It seems like, though not easy, but a feesable workaround to the problems here.
I can see it useable by Wii U, XBOX One, PS3 and 4, etc. Just need basic controls which each system has, and a network connection and the console to have web access of any form.
I'm not a programmer but I don't know specifically why this couldn't happen.
For instance, I've seen in BluRays and DVD's where online content is available for games or more information. Why can't there be an "app" on a DVD that searches for and opens a local web instance of Plex or have a fully built in client that ONLY looks for local Plex servers?
You would need to insert it to be able to use the Plex content, but it would give you a better experience than what is currently available on the consoles AND if you are like me, my games are downloads anyway and I can just leave the Plex DVD in there all the time.
On top of it all Plex Gurus... It would be an easy sell to those who wouldn't mind having a Plex DVD with a nice looking case. But I'm sure most would just download it and burn it. Just a thought.

Why would you like to have an app on a slow medium (physical disc) instead of downloading it via the PSN store and store it on the harddrive like you do today?
I wanted to say thank you for the awesome app.
Since I bought the PS3 last year, I funnly mostly use it for PLEX or Netflix.
I just have ONE tiny little issue with the PS3 app. The Windows Home Cinema version looks so much nicer with the background images and themes playing, etc. A lot more classy.
So... how about a little design update? Or maybe give us the possibility to use own skins? :)
