Plex client on FireStick and Shield will not connect to Synology Plex Server, but browser works ok

Server Version#: 1.32.5.7210-77f7f99fa (I just updated to the latest)
Player Version#: 9.25.0.2374
The Plex web client (Chrome on Windows) connects to my Plex server running on Synology and works fine.
The browser shows the local LAN IP address of the Plex server because I have enabled local network discovery and configured the LAN Networks setting.

I can not access the Plex server from a FireStick, or either of my 2 NVidia Shield Pros.
The client launches and asks me to activate on plex.tv/link (on 1st launch after reinstall). This works and it shows my correct account name. The client endlessly shows the spinning yellow circle on the Home page.
On the left, I see:

  • My account name
  • Search
  • Home (just spins)
  • Watchlist (actually shows some items but ‘no locations currently available’ if I open one)
    • Your Media
  • Settings

I get the same result on my 2 Shield Pro devices. All help content I can find related to Shield talks about setting it up as a Plex server. I don’t want to do that. I want the Plex client on Shield to access the Plex Server on Synology NAS.

Since this issue happens on 2 types of devices it seems it would be a Plex Server issue. But it works fine in a browser.

Can someone please suggest some options for me to try? Thanks in advance for any help.
