Plex client on LG 65UH6030 now black screen

Server Version#: 0.9.16.6.1993-5089475
Player Version# (app installed on TV): 4.7.1

Installed the server software on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (can’t upgrade to later version), and I understand new version of Plex server requires more recent OS. This was done on the computer first to familiarise myself and ensure things were working before installing the TV app.

Installed Plex app from LG online store. Was presented a 4-letter code which I entered on the computer at plex.tv/link and the two devices paired. My correct user info (user name, computer name, etc) appeared on Plex’s TV app, however no media files were presented. Was able to click and browse all the info with no problem except was told, iirc, to reload the app’s desktop. This just kept looping, as if it was unable to fully establish connection with server to populate the app with media data. Clicked computer name, a sync process appeared to run for a while as if looking for the folder path, and then an exclamation mark < ! > was presented beside the computer name. No error message or description.

LG TV informed me a webos software update was ready, which I installed, restarted TV, and returned to Plex app. No change to previous problem of no media and still a bang < ! > beside .

A second LG webos update was presented to be installed, which was completed, and TV restarted. Relaunched plex. The app’s desktop appears briefly, flashing no more than second, and then it’s a black screen. Restarted the TV a few times and no change. Checked LG app store to see whether there’s an update to Plex app, but there is not. I uninstalled, restarted, and reinstalled the Plex app on the TV, but the same problem persists.

On Plex server the TV device is listed. Remote access was disabled. Under server mapping there was a red X between public and internet. In troubleshooting I enabled remote access, the red X changed to green arrow, but still no change to the aforementioned problem.

Enabled IPv6. Both TV and computer are on wi-fi. TV is able to browse the internet (as is computer). In troubleshooting I installed another app on the TV, DW TV, and it works correctly.

Pair that old PMS server with the TV app that was out at the time.

If you can’t use an old TV app, then install PMS on a micro computer.
