Plex not loading on LG TV

LG App Not Working - the Plex app wont load on LG TVs anymore. It worked fine 4 hours ago, but now it wont work on all three of my TVs, but works fine on my phone app.

Is it the same “black screen” issue noted here?

Plex suddenly stopped working on my LG TV… it was working only a few hours ago. Now it just loads a black screen and seems to hang there. The logo only appears for a short time before the back screen.

I can still play from my server fine on my phone or laptop.

I have tired updating the app and the TV OS, both are uptodate. I also tried reinstalling the plex app, but same problem. If I try to cast from my phone to the TV it just casts to the soundbar as audio and not the tv itself.

This has happened a few times before to other people
Black Screen on 4 x LG TVs WebOS

In these cases the “plex engineers” needed to “clear the upstream cache” and people said that fixed it.

I hope this gets resolved quickly. I’m a media junky and not having access to my plex on the TV is pain!!

Mine was fine yesterday, no updates to either server or client since then.

So far I’ve tried:
Re-install Plex app on LG WebOS TV (C1 OLED)
Restart plex client.
Restart LG TV (power off for 30s).
Change LG TV network (switched from Wired to Wireless).
Change network DNS servers.

None of the above have worked.

Server v1.40.2.8395.
App v5.82.2

Maybe a “plex app phone home” issue if it’s impacting multiple people?

Hello.
I’m having the exact same problem starting today.
Yesterday the app was working on my LG TV.
I tried restarting, uninstalling, removing the device in my server, nothing seems to work.
Curious that I’m not the only one with this problem.
Thanks.

This problem has indeed very much so returned. App will not load on LG WebOs TV (C3). Use it many times a day, app hasn’t had an update in months. I’ve tried clearing memory, hard restart, factory reset, changing networks, rebooting server, nothing works just starts to black screen. Please fix ASAP.

Sidenote, not really sure why we need this point of failure… Why do we bother self hosting a Plex server if there’s some middleman that core functionality central to the app operating has to route through? Seems a bit counterintuitive

I’m thinking the same… how does this work that a central server interferes in our private servers when I’m accesing to it in a local network…
I’m using XPLAY in the meantime, this one works.

Mine was fine yesterday as well.

Updated Plex Server, removed app from LG TV and reinstalled, re-linked. Checked all network settings.
Now Plex will run (reluctantly), but is crashing and nothing will play.
Plex will run and play from Desktop PC and Android app.

This needs to be fixed!!

Same here. I worked a few minutes before (30 maybe…) now it says that it tkes too much time to start, either I can restart or clear cache and restart. Didnt work, tried to reinstall the app on the TV, same result. Meantime on pc, and mobile it works…

It’s working again on my OLED C3. I uninstalled/reinstalled it, but I guess it was a different kind of error. Probably a new Plex player version just arrived (the version number is different than Yesterday.)

It’s working for me too.
