I got a homerun prime, the point was to get rid of my cable box’s and use this instead. In an effort stream to the many devices available. I did some research and found out that there was a third party plugin for plex that would add a channel called HDHR Viewer v2 (Beta) that would allow me to watch the live streams from the HDHomerun prime on Plex. I tried it out and it worked like a charm, worked on my Iphone, Ipad and Roku on my network, over the internet, life was great… I plunked down the money for early access to the DVR Beta of the HDHomerun View program. Suddenly the old client and plugin stopped working, I could only get Audio on the old hdhomerun client. The plugin I use for plex loads the plugin, but when I pick a live network stream to watch it never starts.
I ended up downloading a newer HDHomerun client from the windows store and that works great on my windows machines. However it no longer streams through plex using the hdhr viewer V2 (Beta) app.
I’m guessing here but I think that there may be a correlation between getting the dvr functionality of the HDhomerun viewer and the 3rd party plugin (HDHRviewer) breaking. But it doesn’t make sense to me.
Any way, I think some of you out there probably use a similar setup and was wondering if you either had a similar issue or better yet a solution. Thanks!
I feel your pain man. Everything was working great until today, not sure what happened but now when I try to use HDHR Viewer, the first one, it says connection error. I went into configs for HDHR Viewer and turned off the Enable XMLTV and then my channels worked again, but now I have no guide data because that is what the XMLTV is. Oh well, glad it’s working again for me though. I might have to try v2 again, but I found I liked the original HDHR Viewer better so I had gone back to it. In the past, I’ve had issues with Plex Server updates and Plex updates on my phone screw up things with HDHR Viewer.
It can be very frustrating at times and really tests your patience. I setup an Emby server too just for live TV on the Roku because I can never just rely on one of these programs to work all the time. I have my emby server running on the same machine as my plex server. Emby is not perfect either…they have a messed up Guide on Roku…You’ll see what I mean if you ever try it. DVR function screws up alot for me too with Emby. I wish I could get a Plex solution for Live TV that would work as reliably as just playing movies on my Plex server. Some day…
Ooh, just learned something. I cleared out my cache folder and deleted the XLMTV file. I then ran the zap2xml batch file and after it pulled down all the channel guide data, my hdhr viewer worked perfectly again!
I started running Emby as well. Thanks for the tip on clearing the cache folder and the XLMTV file, I like the interface in Plex better, I’m going to give it a try. I hope there’s an official client from Silicondust at some point I could only find the V2 client do you know where the original hdhr viewer can be found?
If you visit this page and scroll down, near the end you will find a post from zynine with grey folder links to the original version.
Here is a direct link to what I think is the latest version of the old client.

I currently cannot see guide data with the old version…not sure what happened. What is weird is that I CAN see the guide data in Favorite channels, so I just added every channel into favorites because I got tired of troubleshooting. I too hope Silicondust can make something for Roku, it is surprising to me that they don’t.
Do you have buffer issues? I have the least buffer issues with Emby as long as I tune it down to below the default quality. So tempting to just switch over to firetv sticks or something since they make an app for that but I hate the fireTV’s homescreen.
