Beta 1.4.3.3433 Killed hdhrviewer

I upgraded to Beta 1.4.3.3433 and hdhrviewer throws the following error on all channels:

  • ‘There was a problem playing this item’

How do I fix this and or go back to my previous version of Plex? Playing live TV is a must.

Thanks for any help!

Try HDGrandslam instead.

I installed HDGrandslam but it has the same issue.

Details:

  • I have HDHomeRun EXTEND and an old HDHomeRun DUAL(2013 model) on my network
  • HDHomeRun EXTEND previously worked with hdhrviewer before installing Beta PlexServer Version 1.4.3.3433
  • HDHomeRun EXTEND works with the new Beta Plex DVR feature
  • HDHomeRun (EXTEND and DUAL) still works with NPVR
  • HDHomeRun EXTEND still works with KODI
  • I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled hdhrviewer and rebooted but that doesn’t help
  • I’ve uninstalled the DVR feature but that doesn’t help
  • I’ve installed HDGrandslam but I get the same error message as hdhrviewer, ‘There was a problem playing this item’

Is anyone else reporting this issue? Has HDGrandslam been tested against the new beta version? What what else I should try?

If all else fails I need to revert back to my previous version of plex but need instructions.

I have similar issue. HD Homerun Prime, Plex 1.4.3.3433 Now HD Home Run Viewer (v2) is paper weight. I can only work on it in the evenings when I am home from work, but I have just learned about HD Grand Slam, and will give that a shot. From reading, I will need HD GrandSlam v 1.6.3

Gentle nudge - please set expectations for me on when or if my post will be looked at. I thought Plex Pass had a higher priority troubleshooting but I have not heard back.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Have you reported the issues to the Channels themselves? That is probably the faster line of action since its up to the channel to repair issues with PMS, since Plex doesn’t own the channels.

As for going back a version, what OS are you running it on? Typically it just entails reinstalling the previous version as it does not mess with your database.

I’m running on Windows 8. I don’t remember the exact Plex version but I do know that I kept it up to date. So I do NOT need to uninstall/reinstall Plex? I have 9 users and do not want to lose their settings. Please provide the specific steps to revert back to the latest non-beta Plex version.

Go into control panel applications and uninstall Plex.
Run setup of the version you wish to use.

Start Plex and you’re done. All the previous settings and database will still be there.

 Don’t get me wrong, Plex is good but quality control over channels is poor! Perhaps keep a database of channels that have tested against a Plex version and the channels a user has subscribed to. If all all of the user’s channels were successfully tested then download for that user. Otherwise WARN the user before downloading the latest Plex version that channels were not successfully tested. Channel developers could do there own testing and signoff (honor system) that they successfully tested. Then we can decide to update Plex, take the risk, or drop a non-compliant channel. This would have saved me some headaches. To imply that it’s not your responsibility to maintain some type of quality control over channels is just lazy/poor customer service.

I got both HDGrandSlam and HDHRViewer2 working with an old but the newest version of Plex on my computer, version 0.9.15.1, and all setting were restored. For due diligence, I did update again to the newest version of Plex just to verify and HDGrandSlam and HDHRViewer2 both stopped working. I reported the issue on HDGrandSlam’s forum but don’t anticipate a response. I can’t figure out how to report it to HDHRViewer. For now, I just won’t upgrade Plex until about 6 months from now and then blindly hope everything will work. I thought I was paying for better quality control and customer service. Again, implying that its the 3rd party vendor’s responsibility without some type of warning for your customer, to me, is just wrong.

Friendly advise - get control of your Channel providers or at least warn us that they aren’t in compliance with the newest Plex version. Make Plex better than good, make it GREAT!

On my system, the HDHRViewer Beta plugin disappeared entirely. I looked in the plugins directory and it’s not there. I’m running Windows 10. I don’t know when this happened but I do know it was in the last month.
