Plex Cloud

Been going over loads on the Plex cloud and was thinking … hmmm not been invited then I read a post where the Admin posted

Once you sign up, you will get a reply from Plex thanking you for your interest. When this happens, you can login to your plex.tv and launch your server(s). In the upper left hand section of the web browser page, there is a drop down menu for your server(s) and any others you are being shared with. This menu also shows the Plex Cloud Server.

Well I did my signup to Plex beta and have had no luck with the all elusive Cloud icon. This is worse than waiting for our new baby to come along in to the world the anticipation is killing me lol. So when can we get this nifty little baby cloud Icon to beta test.

Rick

As far as I know nobody received a conformation email. I know the only email I received was the invite.

It will, probably, be a while before more people are added to the beta as there some serious lacks and issues in the system right now.

yea I got the automated email back according to the above I should see the icon and I don’t :frowning:

Received a confirmation email. Even Bought Plex Pass but still waiting for Invite.
Even Uploaded Content to Amazon Drive

Is there any update I still can’t see the option

Not sure which “Admin” wrote that, but it’s missing a step. The process is as follows:

  1. Once you sign up, you will get a reply from Plex thanking you for your interest.
  2. Then once you are invited into the Beta you should get a second email notifying you of your acceptance into the Beta
  3. You can then login to your plex.tv and launch your server(s). In the upper left hand section of the web browser page, there is a drop down menu for your server(s) and any others you are being shared with. This menu also shows the Plex Cloud Server.

How long is the wait for the beta?

It is exactly as long as Plex wants it to be. Right now there seem to be some fairly serious issues with the current beta group many related to load on the system. Plex is unlikely to add more folks to the beta until those issues are ironed out.

Even then I am pretty sure that Plex will be very cautious adding folks to the beta as they appear to really want to get this right and not overload the infrastructure so the number added to the beta could be small at each iteration.

Also, no one should want to be in the beta in order to use Plex Cloud as their primary system. It is beta and it is somewhat unreliable.

My guess, and it just a guess, is that Plex has a plethora of people in the potential beta pool and only a small percentage of those will be added in the next cycle so nobody should count on getting an invite any time soon.

Remember that not only are there problems in the current testing but there are a rather large number of features that do not exist, at least yet.

Shame about the problems with the beta.

I totally get that this isn’t going to be a full time solution, at least for the moment.

But it certainly makes Amazon Cloud look like an attractive media storage solution.

While you wait for your invitation everyone should start uploading your content to ACD. It does take a considerable amount of time. I’m not complaining just stating a fact. 4TB could take up to a week to upload with a good connection. So even if you got an invitation today it may be awhile before you could actually use it if you haven’t already uploaded your content.

We’re hoping to be expanding the beta to more users soon. You’ll hear from us by email once your account is ready to go. Stay tuned.

Great to hear. My Homeserver stopped working last month and I wasn’t able to use Plex since then.
Can’t wait to be in, begin testing and finally being able to use Plex again.
Amazon Cloud Drive is awesome with a 1 Gbits connection by the way.

Well, first off congratulations on the birth of your daughter! From one father of a little girl to another, be prepared for her to wrap you around her finger! She is my #1 Plex user and if anything is up, I hear about it first from her (she’s 2 years old). Also, I’m glad you mentioned your daughter’s birth before Plex Cloud! I’m hoping we’ll have more news to share, but can’t promise when. In the meantime, take lots of photos and videos as you receive your first gift

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter, Emma!! I’m sure you are cherishing these moments  As for your 2nd baby, we were always told to have them a few years apart! But fortunately you won’t have to wait years for Plex Cloud  I’m hoping we will be able to open the flood gates soon.

It took me a few weeks to upload 9.5TB. The problem I am still having, however, is uploading some of the 1:1 Blu-Ray rips. Those 15-30GB files are very hit or miss and I’ve tried several different methods. Some of them have failed to upload a half dozen times.

I am not sure why some seem to get slow speeds on Amazon cloud today I uploaded MacGyver DVD’s I own and two MacGyver films a total of 20gb and took 1 hour 30mins.
