I have a manual collection which I’ve added to my shared users home on my home screen. However the way to organize this collection is only in three ways (Custom, Alphabetical, Release Date) - This is very irritating because I want the latest movie fitting that collection parameter to show first, however when arrange by “Release Date”, it shows the earliest movie first.

For example - If I have a collection for Bollywood Movies - and a new movie gets added, I want it to be added to the collection and show on my home screen first by release date however it gets pushed to the end and the earliest movie gets shown first.

Hope this makes sense! This bothers my organizational OCD.

Figure out a way to produce your list of Bollywood movies using a custom filter.
This has 3 advantages:

  1. you only need to put a tag onto each new Bollywood movie after adding it to your Plex server. No need to manually add it into your collection.
  2. you can create a “smart” collection from this filter, which can be sorted by all sorting methods. So even by release date, descending.
  3. you can limit the number of results
