Plex Connect with Seagate Personal Cloud

I had Plex connect working on my ATV 2 and 3 a while back but they got updated and are back to factory reset. I'm running my Plex server on the new Seagate Personal Cloud. Can I still follow the same install directions for installing plex connect on ATV? I was afraid the certificates I created are unique to the mac I would generate them on and the Plex is not running on the mac, it runs on the seagate personal cloud. 

 

When I had plex connect running before, I was using an old PC to run plex. It was a while ago and i'm not that familiar with the Plex connect setup so I am basically a noob with this. 

 

Also, I'm not that familiar with OpenPlex. Can I use OpenPlex to install Plex Connect on ATV and then use the Seagate Personal Cloud to run the server? From the videos I've watched, it seems as though OpenPlex is used when the Plex server is running on the same machine??

  1. You can install PlexConnect in a jailbroken aTV2 and it will serve both the aTV2 and the aTV3
  2. You can copy the certificates between platforms
  3. It is possible to install PMS in the Seagate, but probably you will need to recode all your media to 720p / H.264 / AAC (using Handbrake ATV2 profile, for example)
  4. I don't know if it's possible to install PlexConnect in the Seagate (instead of the aTV2), this depends on having a Python version that can be installed in the Seagate
  5. OpenPlex installs PlexConnect in a Mac, not in the aTV
