Hello,
I didn’t know it at the time, but it just happens that I own a TV series which is also available on Plex TV.
Last night, I went to my library, picked the episode I wanted to watch, and was very surprised to have commercials play. I thought there would be no commercials on personal media. I tried three times to pick the file again, making sure I was in my personal library, and the same thing happened over and over. I ended up watching it on Roku Media Player instead, to avoid the commercials.
How can we make sure we pick our files instead of the Plex TV offering so as to avoid this happening again in future?
Thank you.
You should probably explain in detail what that means to you.
It could mean, “open the Plex app and then use the search” or “open the Plex app and use the Watch list”.
Both of which could steer you easily to the free ad-supported content instead of your personal media on your own server.
So for me, that usually means opening Plex from my Roku, and select “movies” under my server’s name. I never ever watch plex content, so I’m not sure what else I could do. I only use Plex as a media server for my own files. In this case, though, I watched episodes 1 and 2 without an issue the day before. Then I opened Plex the next day, and saw the icon for episode 3 on the Home screen, so I clicked that.
But each time, I tried to get back out, and back in, to see if it would pick my file instead, but it didn’t. The commercials were still there.
As a side note, I since went to my settings and disabled all of the Plex content (TV, Shows, Music). So all that’s left now should be my files?
Please use the hosted web app to look at the home page.
Is the next episode of that series shown on the home screen, in the “Continue Watching” hub?
And if it does, please take a look at its Plex media info. What is listed as its storage location?
