I have the Nvidia shield 2015 working fine in past 10 years, streaming from plex/synology until last month when i upgrade to latest version
Did hard reset using settings
Did wipe/factory reset using fastboot
uninstall plex media server beta
Im stuck in the LOOPING screen “plex media server is running for the first time please wait”
update to plex media server beta 2.3
pms - setup failed
something went wrong
sorry, there was an issue configuring your server. you can try again by pressing continue
I can setup plex without enabling PMS, then go on plex setting and start the configuration, but it fails
also sideLoad the PMS it immediately crash
PS: dns are 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 and the shield is connect direct to ISP ROUTER
any solutions ? this seems to be a bug affecting hundreds of users
thanks
I would considerer a subscription if plex media server work on the shield tv.
But looks like plex abandoned the shield tv for good, left us in the dark, its better to remove all plex app from google play store available for the shield tv , its only damaging their own reputation.
I am running v1.41.7.9717 (beta) on a Shield Pro 2019, media files are served to it via a Synology.

Lets see how it goes
where do you get that version ? its custom ? please share the link
I would recommend try going to here first:
and make sure you are up to date with the latest public plex server release, to see if that fixes any issues you may be having.
The version I have is for beta testing the next release. You can not run production and beta you have to choose one or the other. Instructions are at the bottom of this page if you want to be a beta tester of the next release(s).

I am running v1.41.7.9717 (beta) on a Shield Pro 2015 and the problem remains.
I suspect that the PMS for the Shield pro 2019 is not compatible with Shield pro 2015
I am no expert in reading the Plex debug files, but these are lines that are interesting:
WARN - [HttpClient/HCl#8] HTTP error requesting POST https://plex.tv/api/claim/exchange?token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx_29nri (60, SSL peer certificate or SSH remote key was not OK) (SSL: no alternative certificate subject name matches target host name ‘plex.tv’)
WARN - [AutoUpdateRequestHandler] Couldn’t get update channels. Trying again soon.
If I am reading this right, it is having communication issues with plex.tv
Is the system date/time on the server/client correct? Are you able to reach plex.tv from any other device?
Reading one thing on another post on the forum:
Stop the Plex Server
navigate in to the server folder and rename/move the file ‘cert-v2.p12’ from ‘\internal\Android\data\com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb\cache’
Start the Plex server.
