Plex crashes when playing 4k content

Alrighty so i need some help here to figure out whats going on.

Whenever i try to stream 4K movies at home on a local connection the Plex app on the tv crashes or says its lost connection to the server.

It plays back everything below 4K without any issues.

The whole thing is running over wifi in my home so bandwith is not an issue.

I also know that my computer can handle it just fine since i can stream 4K to my phone without any issues either.

Does anyone know where i should start to look for the issues?

Its an Phillips 4k smart tv, not sure which model tho.

Also if yall need more info just tell me what and ill get it for you.

Thanks!

Server Version#: 1.18.0.1944
Player Version#: Unsure

Hey there, I wonder if you have still the same problem. I bought the new NVIDIA Shield TV 2019 and updated the Plex app as soon as I got the device up and running. Plex crashes after around 10min of 4k playback. The video starts pausing just before Plex crashes and pressing the control buttons doesn’t trigger any action, it seems like an Out of Memory error to me, most likely the new Plex app as a memory leak.

This thread is about Smart TVs; you’ll need to go here:

https://forums.plex.tv/c/plex-players/streaming-devices

start a new thread, and tag it with nvidia-shield-server

Please also mention if you have PMS installed on a different platform and if so, which one and the version of PMS.
