i tried updating windows, repairing the app, rebooting, etc. plex crashes a few times a day…any one else having the same issue?
Check your transcode directory. The error message listed below appears 20 times in your log files.
a) make sure drive F: is in good working order.
b) try F:\Transcode\ (with a slash on the end).
From Plex Media Server.log:
Aug 19, 2021 21:55:36.039 [8808] ERROR - Error creating directory "F:\Transcode": The device is not ready
There are other transcoder error messages in the log files. Fix the transcoder directory error first, then see if any of the other transcoder error messages remain. If so, you may have some damaged media files.

I am having a similar issue but don’t believe it is the transcode (I did try that) I was in a different thread regarding the SSL certs and ChuckPA tried to help there but I guess i have a different issue maybe related to Windows and he is more accustomed to Linux. pleas see logs and let me know if you have any ideas. thanks (1.4 MB)

Please disregard those posts, it seems i was not on the most recent version of the server software (due to not being up long enough to auto update) I manually updated and all seems fine. sorry for the confusion and I appreciate all the help
well, after fixing the transcode deal its still crashing. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but i uploaded new logs.

You have some media with defective AAC audio: There are ~100K such logfile entries:

I cannot see if anyone was streaming or what they were streaming at that time. The information was pushed out of the log files due to the transcoder errors (the log files have limited size).
Intro Detection for your TV shows was running during this time period. It failed for two episodes:

Part of how Intro Detection works is by analyzing the audio tracks of the media, which requires using the Plex Transcoder.
I cannot tell for certain, but failing Intro Detection might be the cause of the transcoder errors.
Examine the two TV episodes. If they have AAC audio, move them out of your Plex libraries.
- Move these two files to an area where they are not visible to Plex:
E:\TV shows\Family Ties\S07\S07E22E23.mkv
E:\TV shows\Victoria\S03\S03E05.mkv

After moving the files, a) scan the library to pick up the changes (unless Plex does it automatically), then b) empty trash, c) clean bundles, & d)optimize your database. Perform the steps in that specific order.

Reboot your server.

Note the time you rebooted your server, then let it run and see what happens.
i did what you suggested. the files in question have been in my library for 1-2 years so not sure why they would be causing an issue. the server did crash during optimize…i uploaded new logs (before my reboot) but its also taking 20+ mins to optimize it. DB is about 380GB but its also on dedicated SAS SSD’s so it shouldn’t take that long? i think? I also confirmed no one was trying to watch either of those files either.

its crashed 3 times today. do you want me to upload logs after each crash? not sure how many is too many

tried removing these two shows completely but its still crashing every hour.
Crashing for me on plex app version 1.24.1.4931. Lots of glitches on various encodes, requires restarting server and client (Synology DSM 6.2.4.25556 server & Samsung The Frame client)
yea, its basically unusable for me. i went back like 3 or 4 versions and its still crashing every other hour.
I am having the same issue of crashing multiple times a day. I am using this program called “Restart on Crash” for now until Plex fixes the issue.
so, i sort of fixed the issue by turning off any sort of “automatic scan” and removed all the “scheduled tasks”. can anyone give me some insight on why it crashes every hour or more?
